The Mount Hagen Cultural Festival is held in the second week of August each year. The festival is held in Mount Hagen, the provincial capital town of Western Highlands Province. Participants from throughout the country come together in this central location to display their respective cultures and traditions in the form of dance and mime and outclass one another to the beat of their kundu-drums.
The Mount Hagen Cultural Festival is a world-famous cultural extravaganza, where visitors from outside of Papua New Guinea come in big numbers to visit this festival.
Also, brief visits to other highlands provinces have been included in the program to give the traveler an in-depth experience of these areas in a short frame of time.

Itinerary
Transfer to Jacksons International airport in Port Moresby for your flight to Goroka. Upon arrival at Goroka airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
ACCOMMODATION: BIRD OF PARADISE HOTEL
Today you leave Goroka for a full day coach tour to Mt Hagen. First stop at the Asaro village and see the ritual performances of the Asaro Mudmen dance in their natural environment. After the visit, you depart for Kundiawa traveling through the scenic Chimbu gorge, you arrive in Kundiawa. A brief stop for a quick lunch and proceed on your tour to Mt Hagen. A stop at Migende village and visit the Chimbu waterfall spirits.
After this visit, you continue to Mt Hagen.
